Birtley,Gateshead- Landscape Strategy

RLD have been involved in the masterplanning and detailing of this major new housing development on the edge of Gateshead. An integral part of the planning permission was to design a simple, cost-effective play strategy throughout the homezones. We came up with a solution of wooden play items based on different types of play eg. active, imaginative, social. 

Alongside this work we have been instrumental in designing the layout, planting design and design of the central open space, a site of special nature conservation interest.

The first phase of the scheme is due for completion in 2011
