On 12th May St Nicholas Cathedral held an opening ceremony and service at St Nicholas Cathedral. Adrian Waddell and Tom Robinson both gave speeches, a jazz band performed and the Lord Mayor cut a blue ribbon. The team including Newcastle City Council, NE1 ltd and Roninson Landscape Design were given praise by the Cathedral. The Dean also spoke personally to RLD:

“I have been meaning to contact you for days, weeks even, to congratulate you on the finished Square…Can I just say it is a fantastic outcome and has had a really remarkable effect on the space and the cathedral itself. I keep walking past and hardly believing my eyes. The space has grown, the Cathedral has grown, the square seems now to unite the buildings that frame it - I can't thank you and your team enough. Please forgive any hesitations I might have had - my wife will tell you that I have been known to say at home "you can't paint a room that colour!" only to have to eat humble pie when all is finished. This is why I am not a designer!

Very Best wishes” - Chris Dalliston
